Domestic Television Production (TVP) is the domestic arm of SPE’s worldwide television production business. TVP produces television shows for streaming, cable, and broadcast platforms, and include such titles as Cobra Kai (Netflix), S.W.A.T. (CBS), and The Boys (Amazon Prime).
The GFO Home Office in Culver City, California, is responsible for worldwide oversight and financial consolidation, management reporting, SPE Corporate reporting, ad hoc projects, and compliance and controls. The GFO Home Office team collaborates closely with business partners in Divisional Finance/FP&A, Group Consolidation & Reporting, Order to Cash (OTC), and SPE Technical Accounting (all based in Culver City), in addition to SPE’s outsourced accounting service provider CapGemini (based in India).
Based in Manila, Philippines, the Assistant Accounting Manager for the RTR Global Financial Operations (GFO) – TV Production (TVP) will be responsible for the review of all TVP revenue streams and associated analysis functions coupled with continuous improvement, standardization and simplification of those functions and outputs for the TVP Domestic Line of Business. This individual will also work closely with SPE’s other departments (Divisional Finance/FP&A, Group Consolidation & Reporting, Order to Cash (OTC), and SPE Technical Accounting) and outsourced accounting service provider, CapGemini (based in India).
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the review of Domestic TVP revenue streams: production, owned IP, Domestic distribution.
Responsible for monitoring proper accounting treatments and posting month-end revenue and amortization entries.
Responsible for coordinating with OTC and FP&A team to resolve any variances between by title revenue recorded in SAP compared to the revenue contained in the Ultimates.
Responsible for monitoring roll-forward accounts such as unbilled A/R, deferred revenue, and others.
Assist with the review of by title Revenue and Operating Income balances and actual vs. budget/forecast variance analysis.
Assist with the review of various judgmental revenue journal entries.
Establish working relationship with Divisional Finance/FP&A, OTC, and Capgemini.
Ensure work performed is compliant with applicable SOX controls, and provide supporting documentation as requested for audit testing.
Complete ad hoc requests (e.g., historical data reporting, margin analysis, title groupings, etc.) for senior management and other parties.
Run and oversee the preparation of SAP, BW, and Excel reports for analysis required for the review of financial statements.
Manage, train, oversee Capgemini team, as needed.
Define, refine, and implement all aspects of the “GFO Model”. This includes active participation in defining the interaction model with TVP FP&A, Capgemini, and the TVP commercial teams as needed; playing an integral role in maintaining a strong control environment; executing on the appropriate reviews and feedback mechanisms.
Identify and implement opportunities to eliminate low value work and standardize processes which will reduce complexity and enable greater benefits to be derived from technology (RPA, SAP S4/Hana, etc.).
Embrace change and demonstrate flexibility in dynamic situations which can often have both unclear and uncertain outcomes.
Champion the concepts of ESOAR: Eliminate, Standardize, Optimize, Automate, Robotize.
Requirements:
Minimum BS in Accountancy.
Typically a minimum of 4 years of strong Accounting experience (CPA is a plus).
Experience with complex ERP systems (SAP) and General Ledger postings.
Understanding of entertainment industry accounting is a plus.
Strong MS Excel skills required (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, VBA Macros, etc.).
Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and connect the dots to problem solve with reasonable independence.
Ability to manage multiple projects while working in a cross functional team environment; and strong initiative to follow through on tasks to timely completion.
Strong level of communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong level of interpersonal skills collaborating with staff in multiple time zones and countries.
Ability to follow-through with co-workers on projects/tasks by setting guidelines, timetables, and clear sense of expectations.
Change agent mindset; intellectual curiosity; desire for continuous improvement.
Willing to work the night shift (12am to 9am Manila time). Flexible with changes in working hours due to business needs.
