SPE INTERN:

Our Emerging Talent Programs, which includes Interns, Trainees, and Finance Rotational Associates, offer unique opportunities for students, recent graduates, and emerging talent to work alongside the teams that come together to support movies, TV shows, and other great experiences. These seasonal, paid assignments provide meaningful and productive work that builds on your experience and develops your skills further. You will be provided with challenging tasks, real-world experience, and many educational and social networking opportunities.

This Fall Internship is from September through December 12th(start and end dates are flexible based on school schedules) and all candidates must be able to work 20 hours/week, in person in the specified office location. This position is ideal for a student enrolled in an accredited college or university interested in continuing their education through professional experience.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

This Distribution division of Sony Pictures Entertainment Canada is made up of Sony Pictures Television (SPT) and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) digital and physical businesses.

SPT is one of the television industry’s leading content providers, producing, distributing and carrying programming worldwide in every genre and for every platform. In addition to managing one of the industry’s largest libraries of award-winning feature films, television shows and formats, SPT is home to a thriving global content business, operating a robust portfolio of wholly-owned and joint-venture production companies across the U.S., Europe, Latin America, and Asia Pacific, as well as linear and digital channels around the world. SPT is a Sony Pictures Entertainment Company.

SPHE is responsible for driving transactional digital film and television revenue and physical brick & mortar and online retail sales for SPE’s portfolio of feature film and television content across Canadian digital and physical retailers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide Support to the SPE Distribution Canada Marketing team in all marketing activities. In addition, support the TVD line of business, in particular all publicity initiatives, while gaining exposure for our content and work portfolio.

  • Work alongside the Supervisor on series and feature film marketing
  • Assist SPT/SPHE Marketers on marketing activations in support of B2B and B2C initiatives
  • Deliver creative assets to clients – promos, episodic images, artwork
  • Develop and design sales decks, presentations, and brochures
  • Work with the Supervisor on Talent Tours and Event Management to garner maximum exposure of talent/series in the market.
  • Fan Events: Booking talent, scheduling, and itinerary building
  • Talent Junkets: Travel organization, booking flights, hotels, cars
  • Vendor Management: Work with external agencies
  • Track press coverage across each market (English & French)
  • Developing knowledge of SPT marketing guidelines
  • Gathering and distribution of marketing assets and press materials to clients
  • Cataloging and organizing archival documents, press clippings, and marketing activation images for internal post-campaign reporting
  • Assist with localizing communication pieces (e.g., SalesForce newsletters)
  • Stay apprised of competitor activity and share insights where possible

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Passionate about Entertainment: A deep love for television, film, and the media landscape, contributing enthusiasm and bringing a ‘can-do’ attitude to our dynamic team
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Exhibit proficiency in both written and verbal communication to effectively convey ideas and information
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Office 365 and PowerPoint. Familiarity with organizational tools, e.g., Airtable, Salesforce. Strong knowledge of social platforms such as LinkedIn, IG, Meta, X, etc
  • Keen Attention to Detail: Demonstrate accuracy and care in all tasks and projects
  • Ability to Multitask: Organized, resourceful self-starter with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize successfully
  • Strategic Thinking and Creativity: Possess the ability to think strategically in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate creativity
  • Teamwork: Enjoys working on a cross-functional team and collaborating effectively

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Marketing Insight: Showcase an understanding of brand management and strategy
  • Quick to learn: Demonstrates ability to quickly understand complex instructions and eagerness to expand your skills and knowledge
  • Self-Motivated: Exhibit initiative in independently managing and driving projects and tasks to successful completion
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Film/Television Media, Business, or a related field
